The Exchange of Information and Experience

AIM’s member organisations join forces to examine changes in the sector, develop good management methods, and propose constructive policies to national and international lawmakers. AIM’s action is focused on activities and reports by various working groups as well as the organisation of seminars and conferences and the dissemination of weekly and monthly information newsletters. The themes of discussion and areas of activity vary: social security, the financing of healthcare, pharmaceutical policy, health information processing, eHealth, etc. Cost containment and the economical and equitable allocation of available resources remain at the very heart of these debates.

AIM counts with six working groups: European Affairs; Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices; Mutual Values; Health Promotion, Environmental Health and Disease Prevention; Long-term Care; and Fraud; two study trip groups: eHealth and Health Systems Reform; and two Region Committees: Latin-America and Africa & the Middle East. See our work programme.

The defence of common interests

On the basis of the information it gathers and the debates which take place within the organisation, AIM drafts position statements and press releases on various topics with the aim of maintaining health insurance and social protection systems based on solidarity. Our team, together with representatives delegated by AIM are responsible for forwarding these statements to European Institutions, and defending them where necessary.

Cooperation and Assistance

The members of AIM are increasingly involved in cross-border cooperation within the European Union and in projects with partners from Central and Eastern Europe, Africa, and Latin-America. AIM strives to promote solid and equitable health systems and to encourage, where feasible and necessary, the development of autonomous mutualist services based on solidarity, responsive to demand and grounded in an efficient, redistributive state policy.
