In her 2025 State of the European Union speech, President Ursula von der Leyen announced  a #GlobalHealthResilienceInitiative. A signal that the EU intends to lead on preparedness and response. She also warned that disinformation is undermining measles and polio vaccination, putting us “on the brink” of another global health crisis.

AIM supports the initiative and stands ready to work with the European Commission to start turning words into action. In particular, we call for solidarity-based mutual health organisations to be integrated as essential partners. Mutuals are close to their members and communities, mutuals are proven stabilizers of social peace and democracy.
