AIM, the International Association of Mutual Benefit Societies, welcomes the European Commission proposal of “Council Recommendation on stepping up EU actions to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in a One Health approach”. The document recognises the emergency of tackling what constitutes one of the largest public health threats of our century. The European Commission has rightly identified the key challenges together with a bold and comprehensive set of measures to help overcome them. AIM hopes that Member States will keep the level of ambition high in their adoption and more importantly their implementation, despite the recommendations’ non-binding nature.
